      Recently awog servers for town have been terrible, frequent server disconnects causing 20 seconds of lag for whole lobby.

        Hey,

        can you provide some time stamps for us when this happened?
        Are you sure that the whole lobby lagged?

          @xerxes Hey, today between 9.27 to 9.30 pm UK GMT time, “connection interruption” occurred for whole lobby about 15 seconds.

          Definitely whole lobby, awog town server (have experienced on other bo2 awog zombie servers too)

            @xerxes Happened again today and I think every time on any awog zombies server. 10:36 am GMT connection interrupted, AWOG nuketown gun game.

              Seems like those lags happen every time a Pluto server dies.
              It takes about 5 minutes until the process is killed by our iw4ma instance when it looses connectivity. The lags itself are probably the time it takes until the CPU priority gets adjusted for hogging up all the available CPU time.

                What do you mean by when a pluto server dies? If you mean lobby deaths, then usually the whole lobby dies due to the lag and then yes you can expect the server to restart. Which is what I think those time stamps relate to (i.e. Normal play, lag, everyone dies, server restarts from 1).

                And if I did understand that incorrectly do you think this error can be fixed because it has happened almost every time I access an awog server.

                  No, something completely different. It can happen that a Pluto server is stuck in an infinite loop that then will eat up a whole cpu core, if another server has its main thread on the same core it will cause it to lag. It then takes about 30 seconds until our server is penalizing the game server process doing that to a very low priority which effectively stops the lag until the game server process is kill about 4.5 minutes later.

                    @xerxes I think I understand but is it possible to keep these servers running without interfering with each other? Bo2 zombie servers have become unplayable due to the approx 15 second lag window where the whole lobby is wiped out.

                    This never used to occur so I do hope that it can be fixed.

                      No, sadly that is not possible, for one side we don’t have a cpu core for every game server and on the other side pretty much every server would be gone after a few hours.

                      I have tweaked a few things that might ease / prevent the lags. Only other option is a reboot of everything since windows makes it worse after a few weeks of uptime.
